White House Christmas Tree Hysterically Collapses

(RepublicanJournal.org) – Just one day after First Lady Dr. Jill Biden unveiled this year’s White House Christmas decorations, the National Christmas Tree came toppling down. The 40-foot tree succumbed to high winds, crashing to the ground two days before the scheduled lighting ceremony.

Fox News reports that the tree, a Norway spruce cut from West Virginia’s Monongahela National Forest, collapsed on Tuesday, November 28, around 1:00 p.m. The tree had been on display since November 11, on the Eclipse, which is a clearing in President’s Park, located on the White House grounds.

Jill Biden had just posted pictures of the White House’s interior decorations on Instagram the previous day, unveiling the year’s theme as “Magic, Wonder, and Joy.” The 2023 decor in the Grand Foyer includes a toy train that travels around the official White House Christmas tree and a gingerbread house commemorating the 200th anniversary of “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” The National Christmas Tree, which sits outside, is an annual tradition, and the president presides over the yearly lighting ceremony.

However, holiday magic wasn’t enough to hold back fierce pre-winter winds, and a particularly strong gust sent the Christmas tree crashing sideways. No one could be sure whether the tree was salvageable until a crew came in to assess the damage. They managed to get the tree back up by around 6 p.m.

Conservatives see the hysterical collapse as the perfect representation of Biden’s presidency. The House Judiciary Committee shared their comparison between the US leader and his tree on X, the social media platform formerly called Twitter, shortly after the fall occurred. They alluded to the highly publicized tumbles the aging president made over the past year — the first in June, when Biden tripped on a stage, and the second in September when he toppled down the steps of Air Force One.
