The 3 Best Science Fiction Movies of All Time

(RepublicanJournal.org) – Science fiction movies incorporate a bit of real or imagined science and transforms it into a dramatic or terrifying storyline. The draw to this specific story genre for many is the fact that the viewer can imagine fictional events actually happening in real life, making for an interesting and sometimes stressful experience. Next time you’re trying to decide which movie to watch on a Saturday night, pop some popcorn, grab a blanket, and give these sci-fi flicks a try — they’re three of the best.

1. The Matrix

This 1999 production features Keanu Reaves as Neo, a man among many living in a fictional world created by machines. Unbeknownst to most, humans are being used as a source of power, merely kept appeased by the reality people in the matrix see in front of their eyes. Is Neo “The One” who will save humanity?

2. The Terminator

The timeless film from 1984 stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as the terminator, a cyborg sent back in time to kill the mother of the child who will grow up to lead the human resistance to take down the machines who have taken over the world. Will Sarah Connor survive the ordeal to give birth to the person who will save humanity, or will the terminator complete his quest?

3. Back to the Future

A bit less daunting than the other picks, this movie follows the story of Marty McFly, played by Michael J. Fox. When McFly uses inventor Doc Brown’s time machine to unintentionally travel back to a time before he was born, it’s essential he returns to 1985 before causing any ripple effects in the future. The trouble is he runs into his parents as teens, and if he doesn’t fix their relationship and the timeline, he will erase himself and his siblings from existence. Can he do it?
