Pelosi Goes After MSNBC Host for “Defending” Trump

Tension Escalating Between US and China Feared as Pelosi's Taiwan Visit Looms

(RepublicanJournal.org) – Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was once third in line to the presidency as she held the House Speaker role. She’s been a prominent figure for Democrats and has often led the charge in attacking Republicans, namely former President Donald Trump. In a recent interview, she snapped at an MSNBC host for being an apparent “apologist.”

On Monday, April 29, Pelosi appeared on “Katy Tur Reports,” where the two discussed many different topics, including employment numbers. The former speaker discussed President Joe Biden’s job creation record vs. his predecessor’s, claiming the current commander-in-chief has “created 9 million jobs in his term in office,” while Trump “has the worst record of job loss of any president.”

When Tur tried to point out that the job decline was due to a global pandemic, Pelosi snapped, saying if she “want[ed] to be an apologist for Donald Trump, that may be [Tur’s] role, but it ain’t mine.” The MSNBC host made it clear that nobody could accuse her of defending Trump or making excuses for him. That didn’t stop Pelosi from steamrolling on about Biden’s successes.

When the possibility of Trump winning the 2024 election came up, Pelosi said she couldn’t “subscribe to the fact that he would be” POTUS again.

However, looking at a comparison between Trump and Biden, which is the presumed matchup this November, it’s looking to be a very tight race, and it’s very possible that Trump could wind up back in the Oval Office. Currently, per an NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist National Poll, Biden is in the lead by a mere 2%, holding 50% of the vote to Trump’s 48%. Biden squeaks out a little more ahead among those who say they definitely plan to vote with 52% to Trump’s 47%.

The two also share comparable favorability rates. The current POTUS has a 40% favorability rate, while Trump’s is 39%.
