Former GOP Candidate Arrested for Murder

(RepublicanJournal.org) – A former pro wrestler who ran in two GOP congressional primaries has been arrested for murder. Daniel Rodimer is accused of beating a man to death in a Las Vegas hotel room last October following an argument over drugs. Rodimer is now out on bail and denies the charge –- but a damning message from his wife looks like strong evidence against him.

On October 29, 2023, Rodimer was partying in a room at the Hilton Resorts World on the Las Vegas Strip when, allegedly, he caught 47-year-old Christopher Tapp trying to give his daughter cocaine. One witness says they heard him tell Tapp, “If you ever talk to my daughter again, I’ll ******** kill you,” followed by two loud bangs. Another says they saw Rodimer knock Tapp down, hitting his head on a table on the way, then punched him repeatedly. A third, though, says Tap slipped and banged his head on the table as he fell.

The key evidence, though, is a pair of texts sent to Rodimer by his wife. In one, she says, “I watched you [almost] murder somebody, and I had to take your ******** hands off from his neck as he laid [sic] there.” In the other, she added, “I watched you murder somebody […], let that sink in, you psychopath.” Rodimer has been accused of assault before; in a 2011 battery case, he admitted assaulting a man in a Florida restaurant and completed an anger management course.

Rodimer has entered Republican primaries twice. In 2018, he ran for the Nevada State Senate but was narrowly beaten by Valerie Weber. In 2021 he fought the primary for a special election to Texas’s 6th Congressional District. After a campaign in which the New Jersey-born Rodimer was widely mocked for faking a southern accent, he came 11th with 2.6% of the vote.

Rodimer surrendered himself to the Las Vegas Police Department on March 6. He was released on a $200,000 bond and will appear in court on April 10.
