(RepublicanJournal.org) – President Biden’s mental condition is facing new scrutiny after a shocking report from the Justice Department slammed his memory, but at the same time his grip on the Democratic presidential primary race has just tightened even more. Unless he withdraws, Biden is now certain to win his party’s nomination for November’s election. He only had two challengers left, and one of them has just dropped out.
On February 7, Marianne Williamson, an outside candidate in the Democrat nomination contest, posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) announcing that she was suspending her campaign. Williamson, a former church leader best known for founding the Project Angel Food charity, was the first candidate to enter the Dem race last March and built her campaign on challenging Biden’s claims to have strengthened the US economy.
This isn’t Williamson’s first political campaign; she ran unsuccessfully in a House primary in 2014 and made her first attempt at the Democrat presidential nomination in 2020. Both times she failed to become the candidate. Now she’s made it three for three. In the New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada primaries, she polled in low single figures, making it clear that she had no chance of winning. Her decision to wind up her campaign was the only sensible decision she could take.
In her withdrawal video, Williamson claimed she’d spoken for “those who could not speak for themselves in this society,” and thanked everyone who had helped with her campaign. However, that campaign is now over, leaving just Biden and Minnesota congressman Dean Phillips in the race.
So far, Biden has won 91 delegates and Phillips has won none; the next primary is Michigan, which will decide another 140 delegates, and the most recent polling shows Biden with a huge lead in the state. Unless he drops out, he’s going to be the Democrat candidate in November — even though a recent Justice Department report into his unauthorized storage of classified documents, and a recent press conference he held in an attempt to limit the damage, make it clearer than ever that he’s not mentally fit for the job.
