Trump Unable to Attend Victim’s Funeral

(RepublicanJournal.org) – There was an attempt on former President Donald Trump’s life on Saturday, July 13. While a bullet meant for him simply clipped his ear, some audience members weren’t so lucky. Two people were critically injured and taken to the hospital. Former firefighter Corey Comperatore, 50, was killed trying to protect his family. His public vigil was held on Thursday, July 18, and his private funeral the following day.

On Thursday, hundreds of people showed up in the small town Comperatore called home for decades. There were American flags everywhere and even people who didn’t know the devoted husband and father of two showed up to pay their respects. They traveled from hundreds of miles away to the event.

A large bulletin board in the town was lit up with a photo of him, followed by the words “A Real Hero.” The public procession took place at 2 p.m., and hundreds gathered in a banquet hall afterwards. Visitors were allowed from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and again from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Laube Hall in Freeport.

When asked if Trump would attend the funeral, sources close to him said, “Of course he is.” However, it turns out there was a schedule conflict. Trump accepted the nomination for president at the Republican National Convention (RNC) on Thursday night and did not begin speaking until late. However, in his speech, he did acknowledge the firefighter and the sacrifice he made.

Trump also spoke with Comperatore’s widow, who said, “He was very kind and said he would continue to call me in the days and weeks ahead.” Speaking of her husband, Mrs. Comperatore noted that her husband, who threw himself over his family, “left this world a hero and God welcomed him in.” She maintains that she does not blame President Joe Biden, only the shooter, who was killed.
