Security Guard Arrested After Found Carrying Severed Hand in Pocket

(RepublicanJournal.org) – When someone is murdered, police have a very short window of time to collect evidence and narrow down a motive and suspect. Some alleged criminals, however, tend to make it easy for police to find them. Such as, for instance, when they carry a piece of the deceased’s body around with them. That’s what happened with a security guard in Colorado recently, and now he’s under arrest for murder.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, January 10, law enforcement responded to a call of a dead body at a creek in Pueblo, Colorado. When they arrived, they found the mutilated and decapitated body of a deceased woman, later identified as Renee Portillo, and declared her death a homicide. It didn’t take long for them to zero in on a suspect.

Two witnesses, a friend and roommate of 26-year-old Solomon Martinez, clued police into his suspicious behavior, including his showing up at a car wash covered in blood and dirt. Martinez also reportedly asked them to help him dig a hole and threatened one with a gun when he refused. The witness said he saw the suspect drag a woman’s body down to the creek where Portillo was later found. The friend also took video footage of the incident to protect himself.

When speaking to the police, the witness said the woman’s head was removed from her body but was alongside it. Authorities arrested Martinez on January 11, on suspicion of Portillo’s death, a first-degree murder charge. Even more disturbing than the details of the crime itself, is that according to the arrest affidavit obtained by KKTV, Martinez had a human hand in his pocket when he was detained.

Martinez later identified Portillo as a prostitute he had picked up and refused to pay. He then said the blood in his car was likely hers, but tried to pin the crime on the witnesses who spoke out against him.

The suspect’s currently in Pueblo County Jail where he’s being held on a $1 million cash-only bond.
