Nicolas Cage Will Be Retiring from Movies Soon

(RepublicanJournal.org) – Nicholas Cage appeared in six movies in 2023, at least one of which could earn him another Oscar, but the Hollywood actor might be ready to slow down his pace. The star, who’s best known for his performances in “National Treasure” and “Ghost Rider,” feels the time may soon come for him to shift gears and see what else life has in store for him.

Cage, who will be celebrating his 60th birthday in January, recently told Vanity Fair that he probably only had it in him to act in “three or four more movies.” He feels he’s done all he can with film and pushed his acting chops as far as he could, but he also wants to leave on a strong note. The actor factored in his age when considering what he wants the rest of his future to look like, noting that his father died at age 75. Cage wants to make the most of what time he has left.

At the top of Cage’s priority list is his family. The actor has two adult sons from a previous marriage, and he and his wife, Riko Shibata, just had a baby daughter in August. He wants to be able to spend time with them. He told Entertainment Tonight that he also tries to read a new book every week and wants to take the time to appreciate all that he has.

Whatever his future looks like, Cage has indicated that making fewer movies is likely a part of his plans. He hasn’t figured out exactly where he’s going, but in the meantime, he’s determined to make every role he accepts as meaningful as possible. The Hollywood actor might also try his hand at the small screen, inspired by Bryan Cranston’s iconic jump into the role of Walter White in “Breaking Bad.”

Cage has 120 acting credits under his belt, with performances in “Renfield,” “The Flash,” “Sympathy for the Devil,” and “The Retirement Plan” being among his most recent works. He called another recent movie, “Dream Scenario,” a “masterpiece,” stating that the director worked on a level he’d never previously experienced, even personally editing the film. Cage also has four forthcoming movies in the works, all but one of which are either completed or in post-production.
