Letitia James Embarrassed as Trump Chants Rain Down on Her

(RepublicanJournal.org) – New York Attorney General (AG) Letitia James recently attempted to honor first responders and others receiving promotions at the city’s fire department, but her introduction prompted an embarrassing onslaught from her critics. MAGA followers booed the official as she took the stage and rained down Trump chants as she spoke.

The department chose James to speak at the ceremony, which honored Rev. Pamela Holmes as she was sworn in as the fire department of New York’s (FDNY’s) first female African-American chaplain. The AG also congratulated first responders who were receiving promotions.

James’ introduction stirred a mix of boos and applause, with numerous members of the FDNY participating in the heckling. Many chanted, “Trump!” as she attempted to speak. The AG responded by reminding the audience that they were “in a house of God” and requesting that everyone calm themselves. She then attempted to press forward, but she had to speak over continued boos from the crowd.

James brought a New York civil fraud trial against former President Donald Trump in October 2023. Judge Arthur Engoron ruled that the defendants were liable for “conspiracy to commit insurance fraud,” “falsifying business records,” and similar charges. The MAGA leader received a fine of over $350 million and will be prohibited from conducting business in the state for the next three years. The judge also placed an order keeping the former president’s sons Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. from running any New York corporations or the like for two years.

Engoron ruled in September that Trump and the Trump organization deceived insurers, banks, and other institutions by exaggerating his net worth when he filled out financing paperwork. The former president is currently accruing almost $112,000 every day in interest while he appeals the ruling against him.

FDNY Chief of Department John Hodgens reportedly scolded members of his department for the disruptions during James’ speech.
