Hotel Vice President Accused of Assaulting Disney World Employee

(RepublicanJournal.org) – The vice president of a luxury resort has been charged with assaulting a teenage girl at Disney World. John Munro allegedly slapped the waitress after she cited a restaurant dress code and told him he couldn’t sit with other guests. He denies the offense.

On November 19, 2023, a 19-year-old hostess at Citricos restaurant in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort found herself faced with a problem customer. Although the restaurant’s dress code calls for outfits that match its “sophisticated and upscale aesthetic,” 64-year-old John Munro was wearing swim shorts and a T-shirt. He had also arrived as the fourth member of a group that had reserved a table for three and was visibly drunk.

When the hostess explained to Munro that he didn’t meet the dress code he seemed to understand, but said he’d wait with the group until they were seated. She agreed — but when she took them to their table Munro followed. One of the group then asked her not to allow Munro to join them, as it was her birthday and he was embarrassing her. The hostess told Munro he wouldn’t be able to sit down; that’s when he slapped her three times on the forehead while reading her name from her tag.

The hostess wasn’t injured in the assault, but she called the Orange County Sheriff’s Office to report it. Munro was quickly caught by deputies, who assessed him as drunk and arrested him. He was released the next morning on a $1,000 bond and is due to appear in court on battery charges on February 16. So far he’s pleading not guilty to the offense.

Munro is a vice president of the exclusive Sea Pines Resort in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The resort says he’s now been placed on administrative leave while “this personnel matter” is reviewed.
