(RepublicanJournal.org) – There has been growing concern about President Joe Biden’s mental fitness. After a dismal showing at the June 27 debate, it has become clear that many feel he cannot serve another four years in office. Several insiders, including former President Barack Obama and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), have reportedly had conversations, expressing worry that he isn’t up to the job. Now, a House panel has subpoenaed some of Biden’s aides hoping to get to the truth about his day-to-day capabilities.
On Wednesday, July 10, Axios reported that the House Oversight Committee subpoenaed Anthony Bernal, one of Jill Biden’s aides, Annie Tomasini, the deputy chief of staff, and Ashley Williams who serves as a senior adviser. These names aren’t widely known, but they carry a lot of influence inside the White House.
Chair James Comer (R-KY) sent a letter to Edward Siskel, the White House counsel and assistant to the president. He speaks of Bernal’s significant role — including that of having access to Biden’s personal residence, a very uncharacteristic move — and notes that the subpoena is part of a broader investigation into whether Congress needs to revisit the possibility of invoking Section 4 of Amendment 25 to remove Biden from office. He asks Siskel to reach out to his staff by July 17 to arrange the deposition and is seeking a closed-door meeting.
White House spokesperson Ian Sams responded to the letter, saying this is just another politically-motivated stunt of Comer’s to get “media attention instead of engag[ing] in legitimate oversight.” He further accused the Oversight chair of trying to skirt constitutional avenues to get information and of “weaponizing subpoenas to get headlines.”
On July 11, Biden addressed several reporters in a press conference likely meant to show the American public he’s up for the task of running the country for the next four years. However, his performance was stunted and he looked dazed the entire time.
