(RepublicanJournal.org) – President Joe Biden’s White House will go to battle for transgender rights after Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed a bill restricting the use of hormones and puberty blockers on children. The controversial law goes into effect on May 8, unless opponents, including the Biden administration, can find a court to block it.
The president seems to be very interested in pandering to progressives. Last month, he endorsed offering minors “gender-affirming care” and gender reassignment surgeries in a statement proclaiming a “Transgender Day of Visibility.”

The White House quoted a study for the special day that was backed by hormone drug manufacturers. If so, that makes the day a win for the president among special interests as well as the progressive wing of his party. Taking aim at Alabama’s new law seems to fall perfectly along those political lines.
The administration is upset that children will be denied “essential care” if they can’t have drugs that alter their physiology and others that block them from puberty altogether. Hormone therapy essentially stops the body from producing gender-specific levels of hormones, such as testosterone or estrogen, and replaces them with the opposite.
Republicans, including Governor Ivey, are adamant about protecting children and not allowing them to make life-altering decisions at such a young age. Does it seem wrong to prevent children from trying to “discover themselves,” or should those kinds of life-changing decisions be ultimately left to parents and doctors?
