House Democrats Now Have Access to Trump’s Tax Returns
(RepublicanJournal.org) – On November 22, after years of legal battles, the US Supreme Court ordered the Treasury Department to hand over six years worth of former President Donald Trump’s tax returns to Congress. House Ways and Means Committee member Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-NJ) promptly issued a press release stating that the amount of time the committee waited for the returns was “almost as long as the civil war.”
"I'm a little troubled that we've gone through all this energy and effort to get tax returns that are unlikely to show much of anything," Steven Rosenthal said. https://t.co/0A2LM07FuA

On November 30, the committee received the documents under the pretense of looking into whether or not the IRS audits presidential returns properly. The committee also claims that after a review of Trump’s tax returns it would also make recommendations for any new legislation it deems necessary.
Now that the returns are in the hands of the still-Democrat-held House, however, it’s possible they’ll make their way to other committees and into other lines of questioning. Rep Terry Nehls (R-TX) quickly made the case that the returns would surely end up leaked to the public:
The IRS just gave 6 years of Donald Trump's tax returns to the House Ways and Means Committee.
How long until someone “leaks” them?

When asked by CNN reporters about about the possibility of releasing the forms, House Ways and Means Committee Chair Rep Richard Neal (D-MA) stated that “the next step is to have a meeting” of the Democrats in the House. With under a month left of the 117th Congress, it’s unlikely the returns will see much action.
