Trump Responds After Biden Drops Out of 2024 Race

(RepublicanJournal.org) – For months, there was concern that President Joe Biden wasn’t up to the task of leading the country for another four years. His mental acuity and health were called into question repeatedly. After pressure from leading Democrats, he announced in a letter posted to social media on Sunday, July 21, that he was bowing out of the race. Former President Donald Trump had some thoughts about that.

On his own social media platform, Truth Social, Trump issued a response to Biden’s letter, calling him “Crooked Joe Biden” and saying he “was not fit to run for President,” and once again said he only landed the role because of “lies, Fake News, and not leaving his Basement.”

Trump went on to list many of Biden’s failures in office, including a “totally unchecked and unvetted” border, that allowed in people who threatened national security. He said the country suffered greatly under his rule, but when he takes office, he “will remedy the damage he has done very quickly” and repeated his mantra “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” He posted again later, labeling more of Biden’s faults.

Now that Biden is out of the presidential race, Democratic delegates have to come up with a new nominee to announce next month. Biden — and many top Democrats such as Rep. Nancy Pelosi (CA) and Senator Dick Durbin (IL) — have thrown their weight behind Vice President Kamala Harris.

According to CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, Trump believes Harris will be easier to beat than Biden would’ve, had he stayed in the race. It’s not yet clear who the Democratic nominee or their running mate will be. However, it seems Harris has the support. She shattered fundraising records with $81 million in donations in the 24 hours after Biden’s announcement.

During the Republican National Convention (RNC), Trump announced Ohio Senator JD Vance as his running mate. The two, who developed a strong friendship over the past few years, have since hit the campaign trail together.
