Trump’s Demand For Second Chance FAILS
(RepublicanJournal.org) – Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) grabbed a lot of headlines after his election to the House of Representatives in 2020. Then, at just 25 years of age, Cawthorn was the youngest Congressman to win a seat in decades, and many people regarded him as a rising star within the GOP. The young conservative has since found himself embroiled in a number of damaging scandals, but former President Donald Trump didn’t want to write Cawthorn off just yet.
On Monday, May 16, the former president posted about the North Carolina lawmaker on his social media platform, Truth Social. Trump admitted Cawthorn had made some “foolish mistakes” but added he didn’t believe the Congressman would make similar missteps again, appealing to people to give Cawthorn a “second chance.”
Politico correspondent Meridith McGraw shared the president’s post via the below tweet.

Earlier this year, the Daily Mail reported on a complaint an advocacy group filed against Rep. Cawthorn with the Office of Congressional Ethics. The complaint alleged Cawthorn had an inappropriate relationship with one of his aides, Stephen Smith. Among the evidence submitted in support of this claim was a video in which Smith appears to touch Cawthorn’s crotch after the latter makes suggestive remarks.
In a separate incident, photos emerged of Cawthorn apparently wearing lingerie at a party.

Cawthorn conceded the primary to Sen. Chuck Edwards of North Carolina on Tuesday, May 17. It seems that even Donald Trump’s support couldn’t get him through the race.
