(RepublicanJournal.org) – Former President Donald Trump has weathered a lot of criticism since the midterm elections in November of last year. Many conservative commentators believe the poor overall performance of the Republican party came down to his controversial endorsements and divisive presence on the campaign trail. According to Trump, however, pro-life voters should face the blame for the election losses, not him.
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump insisted it “wasn’t [his] fault” GOP candidates had failed to perform in the midterms, but rather the mishandling of “the abortion issue.” He claimed Republicans with a hardline stance on termination who believed in pro-life laws with “No Exceptions” had alienated more moderate voters.
He also stated that pro-life voters had failed to turn out in sufficient numbers because of the US Supreme Court verdict in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. That case reversed decades of precedent around terminations, handing states the power to decide for themselves whether to allow abortion procedures within their borders. According to Trump, some voters “got their wish” from this decision and were subsequently “not… seen again.”

Do you agree with Donald Trump’s views? Did the pro-life lobby’s failure to vote in sufficient numbers and appeal to moderates last November cause their downfall?
