(RepublicanJournal.org) – Two members of the ultra-left House of Representatives “Squad” are outraged with Israel’s deadly response to the Hamas assault. They point to a bombing of a hospital and blame the Jewish nation for targeting the building in its counterattack. The two are calling for an immediate cease-fire to end what they view as retaliatory slaughter.
Democratic Reps. Ilhan Omar (MN) and Rashida Tlaib (MI) have both expressed frustration with President Joe Biden for failing to step in before Israel responded to the devastating Hamas attack. Both took to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, to criticize the commander-in-chief and demand action to end the deaths on both sides.
Omar alleged that the Israel Defense Force blew up the hospital, causing at least 500 innocent deaths, and called the action a war crime. Tlaib reminded readers that she was both Muslim and of Palestinian heritage, adding that she and others who feel they have a stake in this conflict would remember the president’s response.
Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) echoed her fellow Squad members’ sentiments, turning instead to her colleagues to take action to end the war. She introduced a cease-fire resolution on October 16, which states over 1,400 Israelis and 4,000 Palestinians have died so far as a result of the conflict. The proposal notes that targeting civilians, regardless of their background, violates international humanitarian law, adding that “all human life is precious.” It asks that the House join together to urge the Biden administration to end the violence and send Gaza humanitarian aid.
Israeli forces insist Palestinians blew up their own hospital in a failed rocket launch. They point to the type of damage to the property, which shows no evidence of a targeted attack that would have left a crater at the impact point if it had been bombed. The United States adheres to Israel’s stance, agreeing that Palestine was responsible for the hospital explosion, not Israel.
