18-Year-Old Conservative Murdered Over Political Dispute
(RepublicanJournal.org) – The political scene has become increasingly divided over the last few years. Liberals and conservatives have frequently crossed the lines of good taste when criticizing each other, and situations have regrettably become violent on many occasions. In one recent example, an 18-year-old apparently lost his life after standing up for his right-wing beliefs.
According to police reports, 41-year-old Shannon Brandt admitted to deliberately striking Cayler Ellingson with his vehicle in an alleyway in McHenry, North Dakota in the early hours of Sunday, September 18. Brandt alleged he had a political argument with the teenager, whom he accused of being a Republican extremist. The suspect also claimed Ellingson threatened to come after him with a group of other people.

Brandt is now facing charges of vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in death. He reportedly left the Stutsman County jail on Tuesday on a $50,000 bond. Investigators say the substance of the alleged political argument that took place between the two men is not clear at this point. When police officers breathalyzed Brandt at his home later on Sunday, they found he had a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit of 0.08%.
Do you think this senseless murder is related to the recent encouragement of active resistance against conservative political beliefs?
