Social Media's Role in Exposing Alleged Child Predators

When Justice Fails, Vigilantes Step In

Our own justice system is harboring some unsavory characters, and it took a group of concerned citizens to expose the rot. A vigilante group on the internet took it upon themselves to take down a District Attorney from the Bronx who apparently felt the need to meet with a child.

Bronx Prosecutor Caught in Alleged Predator Sting

William C.C. Kemp-Neal, a 30-year-old Bronx prosecutor, found himself in hot water after an encounter with the internet vigilante group Dads Against Predators. On July 8, 2024, around 8:30 p.m., Kemp-Neal was confronted in the parking lot of a Target in Mount Vernon, where he had allegedly come to meet a 13-year-old boy.

The incident was captured on video, showing Kemp-Neal being confronted by vigilantes who accused him of attempting to meet a minor. When confronted, Kemp-Neal attempted to flee the scene, leading to a chase that ended with a bystander restraining him in a chokehold.

A Prosecutor’s Fall from Grace

Kemp-Neal, a Fordham Law graduate from 2021, had been working in the Bronx District Attorney’s office since June 28, 2020. Ironically, his caseload included matters related to assault, harassment, and child endangerment. Following the incident, Kemp-Neal resigned from his position on July 17, 2024.

“William Kemp-Neal worked here as an ADA from June 28, 2020, until July 17, 2024,” stated the DA Darcel Clark’s office, confirming his resignation.

The Mount Vernon Police responded to the scene and questioned those involved but made no arrests at the time. They have promised a comprehensive investigation into the allegations.

The Power of Citizen Journalism

This incident highlights the growing role of social media and citizen groups in exposing alleged wrongdoings, especially when it comes to protecting children. The Dads Against Predators group, which orchestrated the sting operation, used social media to broadcast their confrontation with Kemp-Neal.

“Excuse me everybody, this man right here came to meet a 13-year-old boy,” one of the vigilantes can be heard saying in the video.

While such vigilante actions raise questions about due process and the potential for mistaken accusations, they also shine a light on the dark corners where traditional law enforcement might not reach.

Legal Implications and Future Proceedings

As of the reporting date, Kemp-Neal has not been charged with any crime. However, the allegations are serious, and the incident has already cost him his career as a prosecutor. The Mount Vernon Police’s ongoing investigation will determine whether formal charges will be filed.

The case serves as a stark reminder of the potential for abuse within our justice system and the vital role that an engaged and vigilant citizenry can play in holding those in power accountable.
