Rudy Giuliani Case Thrown Out by Judge

Rudy Giuliani Case Thrown Out by Judge

(RepublicanJournal.org) – Allies of former President Donald Trump have been in the crosshairs of liberal leaders for some time now. Various investigations, most notably those involving the House Select Committee probe of the events from January 6, have issued subpoenas to several individuals close to Trump, while other parties have filed lawsuits. One such legal action recently ran into some trouble.

Reps. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) and Eric Swalwell (D-CA) filed lawsuits against the former president and a number of his supporting officials over their alleged role in the violence at the Capitol Building on January 6, 2021. On February 18, Judge Amit Mehta of the D.C. District Court decided to throw out actions against Donald Trump Jr. and Rudy Giuliani, the former president’s attorney. However, Justice Mehta allowed most parts of the lawmakers’ suit against Donald Trump Sr. himself to proceed.

While Mehta, an Obama nominee, granted Giuliani and Trump Jr.’s requests for dismissal, he was highly critical of the former president. He said he was allowing the lawsuit against Trump to go ahead because he knew right-wing groups were prepared to commit violence on his behalf.

Do you think this is a victory for Trump and his team overall, or would a complete dismissal of all Thompson and Swalwell’s lawsuits have been a better outcome?
