Ron DeSantis Is Releasing Documents About Migrant Busing
(RepublicanJournal.org) – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) has made no secret of his opposition to the Biden administration on a number of key issues, including immigration policy. Along with other conservative governors, like Texas’ Greg Abbott and Arizona’s Doug Ducey, he has partaken in the transportation of migrants out of his state to liberal areas of the country to draw attention to Biden’s failure to properly control the nation’s southern border. Now, he’s dealing with legal action over the move.
Earlier this year, the Florida Center for Government Accountability (FLCGA) filed a lawsuit against DeSantis’ administration seeking the release of documents related to two charter flights carrying 50 illegal immigrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. The motion sought records regarding communications between state officials in Texas and Florida related to the flight, as well as logs of the phone communications of James Uthmeier, Ron DeSantis’ chief of staff.
The defendants refused to immediately provide the requested records. However, they agreed to publicly realse the documents by December 1, giving them roughly six weeks to comply with the request.
