New Report Reveals More Information Regarding DeSantis’ 2024 Plans
(RepublicanJournal.org) – Political pundits have been speculating about Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ (R) presidential ambitions of late. His appearances during this election season have positioned him against former President Donald Trump and left open the possibility of a run for the White House in 2024. However, recent reports suggest he’s not keen on going head-to-head against the 45th president.
A report from Vanity Fair cites four Republican sources claiming DeSantis has stated he will not oppose Trump in a 2024 primary race should the former president choose to run. This decision would be a reversal of the governor’s previous indication to donors that he would be willing to stage a “full-frontal assault” on Trump in a race.

DeSantis, 44, reportedly thinks he may have much to lose and little to gain by running against Trump in 2024. Should he wait for the next election cycle, he could avoid getting into a dogfight with the antagonistic (and highly popular) former president. The two men were once close allies, but their relations have soured notably since rumors of DeSantis’ presidential aspirations first emerged.
With a commanding lead over Democratic challenger Charlie Crist in polling for Florida’s gubernatorial election, DeSantis looks sure to retain the Sunshine State’s gubernatorial mansion. However, his career trajectory thereafter appears much less certain, regardless of this recent report.
Do you think we’ll see a Trump v. DeSantis showdown in 2024?
