(RepublicanJournal.org) – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) is not one to shy away from an argument, particularly when it comes to so-called “woke” values. The popular governor has repeatedly challenged far-left ideas and policies since taking office. He’s currently embroiled in a dispute with Disney over the liberal corporation’s criticism of his legislative goals.
Last week, Disney CEO Bob Chapek met with Governor DeSantis over the latter’s support for the Parental Rights in Education bill. The controversial legislation would restrict teachers from instructing students on topics related to gender identity or orientation prior to the fourth grade. Florida’s legislature has approved the bill, and analysts widely expect Governor DeSantis to sign it into law.

Liberals across the nation have voiced their disapproval of the bill. Even the Biden administration has condemned it. Following the discussion between Chapek and DeSantis, the governor made critical statements about Disney. He claimed his government would make the laws on the basis of what was best for ordinary Floridians, not what woke corporations wanted him to do. He also pointed out that Disney’s business model profited off young children and that the bill the company was campaigning against was an effort to protect the interests of those same young children.
