(RepublicanJournal.org) – Robert F. Kennedy (RFK) Jr. has threatened to become the Left’s new rising star in the presidential race, but his views have many people confused about his choice to run as a Democrat. While he might claim a growing percentage of potential voters, some people see him as a passing distraction — while others feel media coverage of the rival candidate might serve as a ploy to boost Biden’s overall support.
RFK announced his candidacy in April, quickly claiming about 20% of the Left’s potential vote in polls, according to The New York Times. His views veer from mainstream progressive colleagues on many key issues, including vaccine use and border control, and he has promoted conspiracy theories that include his belief that pharmaceutical companies hold responsibility for the bulk of mass shootings in the US.
Kessler might have a point. The Kennedy family legacy has made a few moves that raise questions about his choice to run as a Democrat. Most recently, he sat down with Twitter owner and CEO Elon Musk to discuss the current political climate, the war in Ukraine, and global financial issues.
Daily Caller suggested left-wing media outlets are keeping RFK around simply because solid Democrats hate him, so he might make Biden look better. The publication also raised the possibility that the fringe candidate could appeal to Republicans who agree with his stances on the pandemic and vaccines, but have grown “exhausted” with former President Donald Trump.
Regardless of any party or media motivations pushing him along, RFK could split the vote in interesting ways in the primaries.
