Milwaukee Christmas Parade Murderer Sentenced
(RepublicanJournal.org) – On November 21, 2021, Darrell Brooks drove his car through a crowd of people attending a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Six people, including an 8-year-old boy, lost their lives, with many others suffering various injuries. On Wednesday, November 16, Judge Jennifer Dorow of the Waukesha County Circuit Court handed down her sentence, confirming the murderer would spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Brooks had been convicted on 76 charges, six of which were for first-degree intentional homicide. Each of the latter held a mandatory life sentence, meaning Brooks was never going to regain his freedom. Judge Dorow did have the authority to allow some of the sentence to occur on extended supervision, but she chose against the option, adding 762 years to his six life sentences in respect of his other charges.

Brooks went on his rampage after getting into an argument with his ex-girlfriend. During the hearing, in which he represented himself, as he did during the trial, Brooks told the court he had grown up in severely deprived conditions, and that he had suffered with his mental health for most of his life. He insisted the deadly assault was a product of his psychological issues and not a premeditated attack. He also apologized to his victims.
