Lauren Boebert to Force Vote On Biden's Impeachment

( – Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) recently issued a press release detailing articles of impeachment she introduced against President Joe Biden. She surprised the floor with a privileged motion on Tuesday, June 20, which will force the House to vote on the action within the week, according to The Hill.

Boebert claimed Biden’s handling of the southern border counted as an “unconstitutional dereliction of duty,” noting the “over 5.3 million illegal aliens” Border Control agents have encountered under the current president’s leadership. The conservative congresswoman added that Biden allowed over two million illegal immigrants to remain in the country without appropriate follow-up, and she claimed another 1.5 million entered the population as “gotaways.” She blames him for the over 100,000 fentanyl-related US deaths, noting border agents have found more than 39,900 pounds of the deadly substance during their encounters.

Boebert has gone so far as to categorize Biden’s incompetence as an abuse of power, validating her move for impeachment as an action against alleged “high Crimes and Misdemeanors.” She believes the administration has thoroughly disregarded the country’s deportation laws and “endangered American national security.”

White House spokesman Ian Sams responded to Boebert’s latest move by slamming “extreme House Republicans” for attention-seeking and “staging baseless political stunts” amid the backlash of the current Trump investigations, as reported by The Hill.

The GOP is also pursuing action against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, investigating the Biden administration official with impeachment threats on similar grounds. Meanwhile, the probe into First Son Hunter Biden’s business dealings has led to an agreement in which the president’s son will plead guilty to two criminal counts stemming from his failure to pay taxes on $1.5 million he reportedly earned in 2017 and 2018. The deal includes a diversion agreement to drop the additional count for unlawful possession of a firearm. Investigators aren’t investigating or filing charges against President Biden in that case.
