(RepublicanJournal.org) – Failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is still active in Democratic politics, and she recently took part in a panel on human rights at Columbia University. While she was talking, the subject of President Biden’s military support to Israel and Ukraine came up. Clinton fumbled it — and ended up getting heckled.
Clinton Won’t Go Away
It’s been a long time since Hillary Clinton has held any real political role. She left the Senate in 2009, and her four-year tenure as Secretary of State ended a decade ago. She was defeated by Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election and ended her political career in a temper tantrum after being unable to accept that she’d lost.
However, she isn’t ready to retire just yet and continues to give speeches and push liberal messages at every opportunity. On October 23 she was one of the panelists at Columbia University’s event to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and it didn’t go well.
On October 19, President Biden stumbled through a speech on why the US is providing military aid to Israel and Ukraine as both countries fight aggression from their neighbors. Right now, many on the Left are protesting in support of the Hamas terrorists who attacked Israel on October 7, and US support for the Jewish state is attracting a lot of criticism. As Clinton discussed human rights, a heckler broke in, slammed Biden’s speech, and called on her to denounce it. He shouted that the president’s words were “clearly warmongering” and compared it to a “rush to World War III,” and demanded that Clinton make a statement.
Clinton replied by saying this was “not a way to have a conversation” and told the heckler to talk to her afterward. When he dismissed the idea that she would wait to talk to him she insisted “I will wait for you, will listen to you and I will respond to you.” He repeated that he didn’t believe her, and continued to shout, saying he was exercising his right to free speech. When he finally left, some of the crowd applauded.
Although on the Left, Clinton has a reputation as a foreign policy hawk. She voted for the 2003 invasion of Iraq, supported arming anti-government rebels in Syria, and played a key role in the 2011 war in Libya. She’s also been a consistent supporter of Israel. If the Columbia heckler expected her to denounce US support for Israel’s war in Gaza, we can only admire his optimism.
