Ron DeSantis’ Gamble Just Paid Off Big Time!
(RepublicanJournal.org) – The CATO institute is a think tank and public policy research group with the distinct mission of offering information and ideas that support traditional values. For its sixth year running, the organization released its “Freedom in the 50 States” report ranking each state of the union by personal and financial freedom, among other things. Under the watchful eye of Republican governor Ron DeSantis, Florida ranks second in overall economic freedom for the fourth year running.
Florida’s overall ranking reflects policies that create an ideal environment for those wishing to experience a conservative way of life. CATO measures freedom in three categories: personal, fiscal, and regulatory policy. Florida’s overall rank comes with a first-place win in the financial column.

The Sunshine State’s economic policy is so good that the much higher ranks of 12 in personal and 21 in regulatory freedoms categories only knock it down to the runner-up position in the overall scheme. CATO said the lack of a personal income tax combined with warm weather and an influx of resource-rich retirees come together in blissful harmony with opportunity for younger people and a society that places a high value on freedom.
Only New Hampshire came in above Florida. The right-leaning bastion in deep-blue New England boasts the same lack of taxes but offers far less regulation. Trailing the pack are Democrat strongholds California at 48, Hawaii at 49, and New York dead last at 50.
