Look Where D.C. Is About To FUNNEL Money From Trump’s Legal Settlement
(RepublicanJournal.org) – Former President Donald Trump is rarely out of the news for too long. The most recent headlines bearing his name have surrounded the settlement of a long-running lawsuit against his company, the Trump Organization, and his presidential inaugural committee.
On Tuesday, May 3, the Washington Post reported that the two groups had agreed to pay $750,000 to the District of Columbia to settle a lawsuit alleging the inaugural committee (a nonprofit) inappropriately paid money into Trump’s for-profit businesses. District of Columbia Attorney General Karl Racine accused Trump’s businesses of misusing nonprofit funds and said this outcome allowed Washington, D.C. to reclaim some of the money.
Lee Blalack, an attorney representing the presidential inaugural committee, rejected Racine’s claims. Blalack maintained his client only agreed to settle in order to save money on litigation and insisted D.C. would have lost if the case ended up before a judge.
Alongside this news came the revelation that the city intends to donate the settlement money to organizations the Washington Free Beacon describes as “far-left nonprofits.” D.C. Action is a group focused on racial justice, while Mikva Challenge works on “social justice” issues like abortion and income inequality.
NEW: D.C. will channel hundreds of thousands of dollars from a Trump hotel settlement to pad the pockets of far-left nonprofits.
