Cartel Forced Teenagers To Kill Their Own Friends

( – Five Mexican teenagers went missing on August 11. Two days later, officials recovered human remains, suspected to be four of them, at an abandoned property. Police additionally found a car belonging to one of the missing young men, containing a body, in flames. Footage taken before the victims’ deaths allegedly shows cartel members forcing one of them to beat and kill his friend.

Breitbart speculates that the kidnapping and torture of the five young men were purely for sadistic sport, noting violent cartel activity has been devastating the state of Jalisco. The publication adds that the recent footage showed up on social media. It depicts the five kidnapped individuals tied up and bloodied and also appears to show one of the victims beating his friend with a rock.

Witnesses allege a group of armed men forced the five out of a car and into two other vehicles. Officials believe the victims are Jaime Adolfo Martínez Miranda, 21; Diego Alberto Lara Santoyo, 20; Uriel Galván González,19; Dante Cedillo Hernández, 22 and Roberto Olmeda Cuellar, 20. The missing young men, who had gone to a fair together, were reportedly headed home when they vanished.

Cartels have forced kidnapping victims to murder one another and/or fight to the death in the past, according to the Daily Mail, which reports that the five recent victims may have been lured somewhere unsafe with the promise of security work. The Jalisco New Generation Cartel allegedly puts out fake job offers to entice new recruits, but when applicants take the bait, it violently forces the individuals into its ranks and murders anyone who refuses.

The group forces abductees to kill one another as part of an apparent initiation, which members see as proof of loyalty to the cartel. The devastating event may have been an attempted initiation that somehow went bad and ended in the murders of all five kidnapped individuals.
