Beyonce’s Childhood Home Burns Down

(RepublicanJournal.org) – Sirens broke out early Christmas morning when pop singer Beyonce’s first childhood home in Houston, Texas, went up in flames. By the time firefighters arrived on the scene, the second story was an inferno. Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the early morning blaze, which burned down part of the home, but responders indicated that no one was injured.

The New York Post reports that firefighters took just three minutes to reach the burning home after the frantic early morning call, which came in at roughly 2:07 a.m., but flames were already exploding from the second story as the responders moved in to stop it. They had to work hard to tackle the fire as it quickly raged out of control. Firefighters were able to get the burning under control in less than 10 minutes, but they had to cut out part of the house’s roof to extinguish the attic.

Beyonce’s parents bought the home in 1981, the year the singer was born, for $64,000 according to TMZ. The three-bedroom, three-bathroom house has a spiral staircase that leads to another upstairs space. The family stayed in the home until 1986 when they sold it and moved on. Locals and fans still consider the building a landmark, even though the popular singer hasn’t lived there for decades. It has had multiple owners since her family left. The property went on the market most recently in 2019.

The home’s current residents, all of whom were home when the fire broke out, managed to flee the danger before responders reached the scene. The family, which reportedly includes two small children, waited outside for help wearing festive Christmas pajamas. They stood in a state of shock as they watched firefighters tackle the devastating blaze.

Beyonce began her music career as a member of the R&B group Destiny’s Child. She’s enjoyed a successful solo career, breaking records with her acceptance of 32 Grammy Awards.
