(RepublicanJournal.org) – Police in Indiana were looking for the teenage son of a former NFL player for days on end, as it turns out he first went missing over two weeks ago. Two days later police, launched a domestic battery investigation against his parents.
Daniel Muir was a promising high school and college defensive tackle who never quite made it in professional football. After signing with the Green Bay Packers in 2007 he played three games for the team before being waived. He played a season with the Indianapolis Colts before bouncing through a series of teams, usually being cut within months, before leaving the NFL and moving to Logansport, Indiana, with his family. He currently does work for homeless teenagers and is a pastor at a Logansport church.
On June 16, Muir’s wife Kristen and 14-year-old son Bryson left his grandmother’s home in Cleveland, Ohio, in Kristen’s vehicle. Minutes later, Kristen was pulled over by police in Garfield Heights, Ohio — but Bryson wasn’t in the car. Two days later Cass County Department of Child Services received allegations from the boy’s grandmother that he had suffered domestic battery at home; the grandmother said that when she last saw him he had a black eye.
Child Services tried to contact the family, but failed at first; then they asked the Indiana State Police to look for Bryson. On June 28, the State Police declared a Silver Alert for the boy and revealed they’d contacted and visited his parents, who had agreed to bring him to a meeting that day. However, an hour before the meeting the Muirs reneged on the agreement and stopped cooperating.
Muir’s son was thankfully found safe, but his parents were both arrested.
