French Official Calls Out Kristi Noem for Lying

(RepublicanJournal.org) – South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem (R) released a new book on May 7, “No Going Back: The Truth on What’s Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward.” Prior to its release, The Guardian received a copy of it and picked it apart. The publication especially highlighted how the governor killed a young dog when it didn’t behave as she wanted several years ago, sparking a lot of backlash. Now, a French official is calling her out for a perceived lie in the same book.

In one passage, Noem discusses how she had a visit scheduled with French President Emmanuel Macron. However, after he made a comment to the press favoring Hamas over Israel the day before they were to meet, she said she canceled it.

However, per NBC News, an Élysée Palace representative said the statement was a falsehood. Not only was there no record of her having a scheduled meeting, she was never extended an invitation. A spokesperson for the governor, Ian Fury, said she was “invited to sit in President Macron’s box for the Armistice Day Parade at the Arc de Triomphe.”

This isn’t the only disputed fact in Noem’s book, either. Before it was released, the publisher removed a passage concerning her claims that she met with North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un.

Noem is also facing backlash from Native American tribes in her state over comments she made regarding drug cartel members from other countries infiltrating reservations and harming South Dakotans. Her comments came on the heels of her commitment to sending razor wire and security personnel to Texas to aid in the border crisis. Five of the eight tribes in the state have banned her from entering their land as retaliation for her statements, which she doubled down on.

Former President Donald Trump, who is said to be considering Noem as a potential running mate on the 2024 ticket, chimed in on the backlash, saying “She had a rough couple of days.”
