(RepublicanJournal.org) – Ronna McDaniel, the former Republican National Committee (RNC) chair, spent just five days on the NBC News payroll before the progressive outlet gave her the boot. Her release came in response to a heated backlash over the choice to hire her in the first place. The MAGA loyalist has spent the past few years pushing former President Trump’s narrative that Democrats stole the 2020 election, a stance liberal members of the media feel is a deal breaker.
The outrage began after McDaniel appeared on the March 23 edition of “Meet the Press.” The former RNC chair sat down with anchor Kristen Welker to discuss her move from the position, where she stated that she’d had a feeling ahead of time that Trump would decide to replace her. She had remained neutral and organized Republican primary debates, much to Trump’s objection, so he moved to put his daughter-in-law Lara Trump, along with North Carolina GOP Chair Michael Whatley, in her place.
McDaniel attempted to make a leap into the media, although NBC News did seem to be a bizarre fit. She and Welker clashed when the subject came to January 6 and whether Trump should bear any responsibility for the Capitol Building attack. McDaniel claimed to condemn the actions of MAGA followers on that day, but she didn’t agree that Trump instigated the riot. The two also argued over whether McDaniel helped the MAGA leader attempt to pressure election officials in Michigan, leading to the women speaking over one another multiple times as they attempted to correct one another over the facts of the case.
Numerous NBC anchors joined in the outrage over the decision to add McDaniel to their team. Mika Brzezinski, Joe Scarborough, and Rachel Maddow were among the established voices at the network who spoke out against the new hire.
